A Tribute From THETA ETA OMEGA
It is to our advantage that we remember our charter members. It was the courageous efforts of these women that forged a bond of sisterhood in Trenton, Tennessee in 1964. We offer this commemoration as a tribute to the women who laid the foundation for building today’s Theta Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
It is always difficult to know where and how to begin tributes, but we, with sincere intentions, offer this attempt to honor our chapter’s charter members. As an offspring of the Gamma Alpha Omega Chapter in Jackson, TN, these ladies, namely … Josie Anderson, Geraldine Burnett, Ethel Seets, Rosemary Rodgers, Selita Hyder, Flora Howard, Ruth Hartsfield, Ollie Farmer, Ola Mathis, Etta Landers, Carrie Seats, and Nelda Williams, pioneered this chapter. These ladies built a foundation of achievement and service that we strive to continue daily, and subsequently, the Xi Lambda Omega Chapter of Ripley, TN is an offspring of Theta Eta Omega. Our strength and determination are drawn form the idealistic beginnings of this graduate chapter.
As Theta Eta Omega grows, we strive to keep the ideals of the charter members in the forefront. We seek to keep the strength of an organization and the importance of the individual as focal points in our endeavors. We, Theta Eta Omega, salute the charter members of our chapter, as we continue to be …’of supreme service to all mankind’. |
